My academic tutoring service is typically used by students to supplement a course they are currently enrolled in, but I am also happy to work with students on a subject even if they are not enrolled in a course.

The way the tutoring works is that, first, we pick a topic from the course to focus on. Then, we work together on that topic until the student has made solid progress--i.e., until we see that the student can get standard questions correct on that subject. Only then do we move on to the next topic, and repeat the process. Also, it is always necessary, before moving on to a new topic, to check that the student has not forgotten the material for any of the topics previously covered in the tutoring. Our goal is not to cover as many course topics as possible, but to ensure that the student is actually benefiting from the topics we do have time to cover.

Therefore, the pace and scope of the tutoring is determined by the student's performance. If the student learns each new topic quickly, and succeeds in remembering previous topics, then we will be able to move quickly and cover many topics from the course. If the student learns the topics slowly, or frequently forgets previous material, then we will have to move slowly, with frequent review of previous topics, and we will be able to cover only a limited number of topics--however, we will at least ensure that the student does benefit from the topics we do have time to cover.

Each appointment is two hours long. It is possible but not necessary to schedule multiple appointments in advance. The student can schedule as many or as few tutoring sessions as they like, but my experience for a summer course is that it generally takes at least four sessions per week to cover the basic course topics. If there is not enough time for us to cover all the topics carefully, then, rather than attempt to cover all the topics in less time, we will simply cover fewer topics.

I do not offer any guarantees.
